Some of the best working relationships begin with a simple conversation and that’s exactly how our collaboration with The Dilli started.
While walking through Haslemere in Surrey one afternoon, I spotted a new Indian restaurant quietly preparing to open its doors. The signage had just gone up and the team inside were putting the finishing touches in place. Curious and impressed by the look of the space, I stepped inside and introduced myself. “Do you need a photographer?” I asked, and as luck would have it, they were looking for one.

That spontaneous visit led to Sequoia Studios being commissioned to photograph the restaurant’s interior and exterior, capturing the warm atmosphere and inviting design that defines The Dilli’s dining experience. We focused on hospitality details such as soft lighting, textures, table settings and the natural ambience of the dining room. Externally, we photographed the High Street frontage beside The White Horse to present the restaurant exactly as guests would see it on approach.
Soon after, I was invited back to document the opening ceremony, a joyful event attended by family, friends and members of the local community.
Photographing speeches, ribbon-cutting and first-service moments helped build a more complete visual story for the restaurant’s launch.

Desserts
A final visit centred on The Dilli’s Indian dessert menu, where we captured five beautifully presented desserts in a natural, elegant style. These food images now support their website, menus and social media, forming a strong visual identity that reflects both the craft of their kitchen and the warmth of their venue.
