A Fresh Start for a Country Classic

The Wheatsheaf Inn

back to The Fifth Element

Sometimes, a great partnership begins with nothing more than a gut instinct — and a quick turn off the road.

Back in April 2024, while driving just outside Haslemere, my wife happened to spot a beautiful old country pub under refurbishment — The Wheatsheaf Inn in Grayswood. It had been closed for some time, but the signs of life and renewal were unmistakable. Intrigued, I decided to call in on a whim. To my surprise, the owner was on site, so I introduced myself and told him about Sequoia Studios, the services we offer and our passion for helping hospitality businesses shine. I handed over a business card — and hoped we might hear from him one day.

A couple of months later, the call came.

The owner was ready to move forward and asked for quotes across a full package of creative services — from website design and graphic design (business cards, signage, menus) to interior and exterior photography including drone shots, and of course, food and drinks photography.

We were delighted to be commissioned and worked closely with the team to bring every element together in time for their grand reopening in August 2024. The result: a fully integrated brand and online presence that reflected both the heritage and the new direction of The Wheatsheaf Inn — warm, stylish, welcoming and proudly local.

Since their launch, we’ve continued to work with the pub on an ongoing basis, managing their email marketing, website blog content and social media advertising. These campaigns have driven strong customer engagement and helped the pub build a loyal local following.

Food

More recently, we returned to complete a new round of food photography, capturing key dishes from their refreshed menu. Highlights included Korean-style ribs, moules marinière, a bright and crunchy Waldorf salad, and of course, the ever-popular sticky toffee pudding. These images now form a key part of their marketing across email and social channels — and they’ve played a strong role in bringing customers through the door.

This has been one of our most rewarding projects — from cold call to creative partner. We’re proud to be part of The Wheatsheaf Inn’s story and look forward to what’s next.

Thinking of relaunching a hospitality venue? From branding to websites, menus to mouthwatering images, we’re here to help every step of the way.
