The Kiln Café
Grayshott Pottery.
The Commission
A festive challenge.
A well-earned prize.
The Kiln Café at Grayshott Pottery came to Sequoia Studios through our festive bobble hat challenge, winning a food and drink photography shoot as one of the competition prizes.
The resulting commission focused on creating a fresh library of café imagery, capturing dishes and drinks alongside a glimpse of the makers at work within the pottery itself. It was an opportunity to tell a broader story about a café that's intrinsically connected to the creative environment around it.
MADE FOR SOCIAL
Portrait by design.
Food made to stop the scroll.
With social media the primary destination for the photography, much of the shoot was deliberately composed in portrait format. Food, drinks and serving details were photographed to make strong individual images while building a varied library The Kiln Café could use across its social channels.
BEYOND THE CAFÉ
Made by hand.
In more ways than one.
The shoot also offered a glimpse beyond the café into Grayshott Pottery itself. A small series of working portraits captured some of the makers behind the ceramics, connecting the food and drink photography with the craft and character of the wider business.
